Lincoln Electric Announces Fourth Quarter 2008 Motorsports Welding School Class Schedule

ClevelandLincoln Electric announces its Motorsports Welding School class schedule for the fourth quarter of 2008. Individuals can learn the fundamentals of welding on race cars in the Basic Materials Course, or expand their knowledge through the Advanced Materials Course. All five-day classes, held at Lincoln’s corporate headquarters in Cleveland, are taught by expert instructors in fabrication and are 70 percent hands on.

Basic Materials Courses will be offered on Oct. 6-10, Nov. 10-14 and Dec. 1-5, and the Advanced Materials Courses will take place on Oct. 13-17 and Dec. 8-12.

Courses include instructions on why and how to back purge titanium, inconel and stainless, the use of gas lens torches, proper filler metal/base metal selection, TIG welding, MIG welding and alloys. This year, advanced course students are also eligible to receive an Aerospace (D17.1) certification.

The cost of the Basic Materials Course is $525 for members (those currently using Lincoln equipment for fabrication on their race team) and $705 for nonmembers. Advanced Materials Course runs $725 for members and $905 for nonmembers.

Class size is limited to 12 students, enabling instructors to provide specialized instruction to each individual. Classes fill up fast, so those interested are encouraged to register at least one month in advance. To register, contact Lincoln’s Welding School at (216) 383-8325 or visit www.lincolnelectric.com to obtain bulletin E.120.

“I’ve been involved with welding for 10 years and I picked up a lot of ideas that even I didn’t know,” said Shane Love of Joe Gibbs Racing. “All 16 of our fabricators attended this school.”

Established in 1997, the Motorsports Welding School is just one example of Lincoln Electric’s ongoing and long-time commitment to racing. In addition to these seminars, Lincoln frequently provides race teams with technical support and trackside welding assistance.
